SMPA relocates communication gear from Expectation Mtn

San Miguel Power Association is relocating it's two-way voice radio communication equipment from a site near the peak of Expectation Mountain to in-town Rico. A helicopter transported radio gear from the peak to the pavilion area in south Rico early afternoon Tuesday, October 5, 2021.

SMPA Safety and Compliance Coordinator Paul Enstrom was at the dropoff location, and explained that the Expectation radio site was solar powered, unreliable, and difficult to access for maintenance and repairs.
