Illustrations shown here of Rico Fire Protection District's proposed new facility were created by an architect/engineer design firm for RFPD in 2021. The Colorado Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) provided grant funds for this service.
The new facility would provide enclosed space for vehicle parking, equipment storage and office/training areas which RFPD believes is inadequate in the existing Rico Firehouse.
Cost estimate developed by the design firm for the new facility is $2.7 million. The RFPD Board of Directors discussed construction funding options at its July 20, 2022 regular monthly meeting at the firehouse. RFPD plans to apply for a DOLA grant which would cover some of the construction cost.
