Five Candidates Submit Nominating Petitions for Rico Trustees November Election

Three positions to be decided by voters.

For the first time in recent memory, the Town of Rico will conduct an election for the Board of Trustees. The November 2019 ballot will include five candidates seeking to fill three expiring terms.

Recent past Trustee elections were cancelled because the number of candidates which submitted nominating petitions was not greater than the number of vacancies on the Board. Candidates which submitted petitions were appointed to fill the expired Trustee terms by the incumbent Trustees whose terms had not expired, at the first regular Board of Trustees meeting following the date of the cancelled election.

Five Rico citizens delivered nominating petitions containing signatures of at least 15 Rico registered voters to Rico Town Hall by the 5:00 PM deadline today (August 29, 2019).

The list of candidates includes two incumbents whose terms expire in November. The Rico Board of Trustees currently has one vacancy, due to the resignation of Trustee Keith Lindauer earlier in 2019 due to relocation. This term also expires in November 2019.
